








The Yamato was a Japanese battleship in World War 2. At 460mm, its heavy artillery had the largest caliber to date for rear-loading guns on ships. Build from 1937 to 1941 at the marine shipyard in Kure it sat sale onto the pacific for its last suicide mission where it was sunk on April 7, 1945, 300 kilometers south of the Japanese island of Kyushu.
